If you ask us, one of the best ways to meditate is at home. Why? Because home is (should be!) your safe space, your base, where you get ready for the day, and where you recharge at night. A lot of loving energy should surround your home, making it an ideal place to meditate. Here are our top tips for meditating at home.
When to meditate
Is it better to meditate in the morning or at night? Since we spend both the beginning and end of our day at home, home meditation often falls into one of these two times. Now we’ve heard this question asked before, and honestly, we say both! There are benefits to each, as you’ll see below.
Day meditation
Starting your day off with some meditation at home can get you into the right headspace. Our favorite way to do this is with some affirmations! Whether you do these by looking in a mirror or just sitting down somewhere, they can really help boost your self-esteem and get you ready to face the day!
Sometimes it’s hard to have that moment where you pause before a hectic day, but try your best to put aside stress over what’s yet to come and just be in the moment. A mantra (like affirmations!) can help if you’re having trouble getting your mind to focus!
Nighttime meditation
And then there’s nighttime meditation at home — your time to wind down and process what happened during your day. Find a comfy spot you associate with peace. Close your eyes. If it’s hard to get your mind to calm down, again, try a mantra.
A note about meditation at home
You probably like going all in and want to get stuff right the first time. We get that! But meditation, like yoga, riding a bike, or just about anything in life… takes practice. You’re not going to have some transcendent experience the first time you meditate (If you do, tell us what happened and how!), but with time and patience, you’ll be able to reap the benefits of meditation.
